Hearing Aids and Aural Rehabilitation

We fit hearing aids on infants through seniors. We are proud to say our youngest patient fit with hearing aids was two months old and our oldest is 106. Once hearing difficulties are identified, we work within a total rehabilitation approach to maximize communication potential for patients and their families. We use our considerable experience and patients’ audiological and lifestyle needs to assist in selecting and fitting the most appropriate high-technology solutions from a variety of hearing aid manufacturers. We help patients hear better, whether with sophisticated digital hearing aids having user options (e.g., multiple memories, directional microphones, and remote controls) or hearing aids that adjust automatically to ever changing auditory stimuli. These circuits are available in open-canal behind-the-ear (BTE) with thin-tube or receiver-in-the- canal technology through completely-in-the-canal (CIC) styles. We stay current with latest hearing aid options and developments in our field and regularly take continuing education courses. Recent advancements in hearing aid technology can enhance both cosmetic and acoustic concerns and improve the quality of life of most patients. We offer free trial periods so that patients can evaluate the benefits of hearing aids before having to purchase them. We routinely conduct research and quality assurance surveys of our patients and are proud to say that the most recent sample showed that 98% of our patients were happy with their hearing aids and the services they received from us. These results were published in the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology (Williams, Johnson, and Danhauer, 2009).

We also offer Battery Clubs for our patients which allow them to purchase batteries in bulk at substantial savings over single-package pricing. A recent study describing our Battery Club was published in The Hearing Journal (Williams, Danhauer, and Johnson, 2008) again revealed that over 90% of patients sampled were satisfied with their hearing aids and the Battery Club

We perform cerumen (wax) management when necessary, and verify our hearing aid fittings using Real-Ear Probe Microphone and sound-field measures during the trial period and regular follow ups to insure proper fit and user satisfaction.
