Electrophysiology TestingWe offer a complete battery of electrophysiologic test for evaluating auditory and vestibular functioning in patients of all ages. ABRWe provide Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) audiometry to verify the integrity of the peripheral auditory system and low brainstem; rule out retrocochlear lesions (e.g., auditory nerve tumors); document hearing in infants, children and difficult-to-test patients; and assess potential auditory neuropathy. We provide electrocochleography (ECOG) as a component of the ABR to assess cochlear function (e.g., in Meniere’s Disease). These electrophysical measures are valuable components to our routine diagnostic test battery and are helpful in physicians’ diagnoses. ENGWe provide Electronystagmography (ENG) tests of the vestibular system to assist physicians’ diagnoses of patients having vertigo, dizziness, and balance problems. The ENG battery includes caloric irrigation, ocular motor tests (e.g., smooth pursuit, saccade, and optokinetic), spontaneous and positional nystagmus assessment, and Dix-Hallpike maneuvers to evaluate Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). The ENG battery can help identify unilateral vestibular weakness or central abnormalities leading to appropriate vestibular rehabilitation options. |
